  during the first talk tonight, the brother giving the talk indicated that now comments were to include sisters!

  previously mostly only brothers were mentioned in most prayers or comments - has anyone else heard this tonight?.

  the meeting seemed to be positioned directly to and about sisters.

  A friend's mother made efforts to involve me in little things. Treats, decorating tree, presents. The things that nake a warm family atmosphere. Same for Halloween, new years ( drunk), b days all that. My parents were not severe by any means, mom i think was pimo and dad ran afoul the good old boys club. I remember going to b day parties. A well off cousin owned the rental k hall space in a little town and had new years parties there!

  Look at Thanksgiving for the best compromises, about the only time for a family reunion

  i think that the big issue here is the double standard based on the location of the family members - if they are 'immediate' meaning they live at home in the same dwelling under the same roof then it's ok but if you are like me and living on your own, your family will absolutely avoid contact with you as that is the real jw policy..the old canada court trial and recent swedish news are totally out of context and the jw attorneys are complete tools and filthy liars....

  Dont forget that if yiu can pawn a 15 yo off on an uncle so much the better. My story was that. It meant the last influence I had ( i still pretty much believed and wanted my son back in) was gone. But everyone.congratulated me on getting rid of him. Fooled them, we still see him and minister to his mental quirks

  just heard from a friend who keeps in touch with the jw's.

  a person who has been studying found out some things on line about the witnesses and decided to not get baptized and stopped attending the meetings.

  she lives with a witness.

  Maybe " marked" as a bad associate. They never announce disfellowshipped as such. She may confuse the terms. I know of a woman who came " in" trying for a certain man, ten announced as no longer being part of the congregation, but not by name. those os not in the know had some gossipping to do to figure it out

  The arguments about the construct of English get old.

  As for God he would be in another dimension we cannot understand. No one ever found keys because god wanted them to. There seems to be a disinterest in the goings on here in any matter

  KHConf - I had no idea how big it has become!

  if you are a jw in the us or canada, you probably already know about "khconf".

  it is a business that has been set up (presumably by some jws somewhere) that supplies call-in numbers and teleconferencing for shut-ins to listen to kingdom hall meetings.. they have their own website: www.khconf.com.. .

  what i didn't know is how much they've spread!

  i saw this mentioned on reddit but no link - i found the article form this weeks bible study..... in the “congregation bible study” part of the meeting this week there was a part that said and i quote: “only jehovah god and his son can receive someone into the heavenly kingdom or the paradise on earth under that kingdom.

  we should diligently cultivate friendship with them by using what material riches we have in supporting kingdom interests”.

  also, if you went into a hall how would you like to respond to the question.. 8. how should we respond to lies?.

  What if the lies are actually true? On matters that I have opinions on I can and will discuss( not scream and argue) the point and if I cannot present a reasonable explanation I have to examine my own stand
